Filter your fluid liquids
from solid particles!
Solid-liquid separation is needed to free fluid
liquids from solid particles.
Fluid liquids filtration is the solid–liquid separation step used to free water‑like liquids from suspended solid particles. The main objective is to obtain a clean liquid and an automatically discharged solid fraction, without manual intervention. In some cases, a safety sieving is performed with expected oversize close to zero.
In many processes, from chemicals and nutraceuticals to dairy, biodigestate treatment and industrial water circuits, fluid liquids carry suspended solids that must be removed to protect downstream equipment, improve product quality or enable water recovery.
Typical contaminants include undissolved product, fines, process residues and other solid particles generated in previous operations. MLT Cuccolini liquid sieves can filter these fluids down to mesh sizes as low as about 7 microns, depending on product and configuration.
The real aim of automatic filtration is not only to let the liquid pass through the mesh by gravity, but also to ensure that the solid fraction moves across the screening surface and exits the sieve through the oversize outlet without operator assistance.
The specific vibration pattern of MLT Cuccolini sieves handles fluid liquids in a way that avoids resonance effects—such as liquid “jumping” in place without immediately passing through the mesh—and promotes both effective filtration and continuous solids discharge.
Although a circular vibrating sieve cannot perform full dewatering, this approach can reduce the water content of the solid and therefore the amount of heat required in subsequent drying steps when needed

Typical installation contexts
Fluid liquids filtration can be positioned after reactors, dissolvers, mixers or extraction units, where solid residues need to be removed before the liquid moves to storage, further processing or packaging.
Fluid liquids filtration can be positioned after reactors, dissolvers, mixers or extraction units, where solid residues need to be removed before the liquid moves to storage, further processing or packaging.
Depending on the process, sieves can be fed from tanks, pumps or pressurised lines, and can operate either as continuous inline units or as part of batch circuits. The installation point is chosen to provide a stable flow, suitable head conditions and easy access for inspection and cleaning, while fitting into existing pipework and platforms.
MLT Cuccolini’s safety sieving solutions
Our range includes machines specifically selected for safety and control sieving applications,
offering reliable performance across different products, capacities and process requirements.
Explore the solutions below and find the most suitable option for your production line.
VLM - VLM_S
For high‑flowrate duties on water‑like liquids, MLT Cuccolini offers VLM and VLM_S liquid sieves, capable of handling up to about 80 m³/h depending on product properties and mesh size.
These machines are suited to applications such as process water treatment, biodigestate clarification or high‑volume chemical and food streams where robust construction and stable operation at significant flowrates are required.
VLB
When more precise filtration in the fine and superfine range is required, the recommended solution is the VLB series, which can treat flowrates up to around 25 m³/h. VLB units are used where tighter cut points are needed—for example in nutraceutical suspensions, dairy streams, Spirulina cultures or fine chemical liquids—combining fine mesh apertures with a vibration pattern that maintains both filtration efficiency and automatic solids discharge.
Across the range, the vibration settings are engineered to keep the liquid moving smoothly
through the mesh and to encourage solids to travel towards the outlet,
limiting build‑up and avoiding resonance phenomena.
The same technology can be applied for water recovery in industrial operations, such as
washing, cooling, heating or humidity control circuits, where separating solids from water helps
reduce consumption and environmental impact.

applications across different production needs.
KEY BENEFITS
OF fluid luiqids filtration
WITH MLT CUCCOLINI SIEVES
Using MLT Cuccolini equipment for fluid liquids filtration delivers cleaner liquids and controlled solids discharge without manual intervention, improving process reliability and reducing operator workload. The ability to reduce water content in the solid fraction, even if not to full dewatering levels, can also lower energy consumption when drying is the subsequent step.
With dedicated solutions for both high‑flow and fine‑filtration duties, filtration systems can be tailored to different industries, capacities and plant layouts, supporting better protection of downstream equipment, easier cleaning and stable, repeatable performance.
